Case study: Volvo Trucks- Use of viral clips

Volvo Trucks just recently made 2 huge viral videos that achieved enormous sharings and discussion. The first video focuses on the truck’s dynamic steering feature by letting a hamster steering an entire truck up a mountain. It tries to prove how light its steering system can be. The second video also aims at amplifying the dynamic steering feature, but this time on its stability and precision. Both videos are successful as they are able to turn a product feature into a story and a worth-watching feat. They spread how amazing the Volvo trucks and make it buzz with little costs. Lesson learned:

–          Always a story that the customers will remember, not a feature

–          A product feature can be highlighted by a crazy experiment

–          Use of celebrity correctly can greatly enhance the virality
