I heard from experienced strategic planners that if you want to be good planners, you have to create something.
I see it is more than true. Planners do plans all day. Planners do thinking all day. It is a job’s trap. When you do thinking as a job, you easily fall into the mistake of thinking just for the sake of thinking. You easily fall out of the reality and practicality of the idea.
I see some planners drop out of this job because of this. They start to get tired of just thinking, just planning without being able to getting their hands dirty.
That’s why I believe planners, besides their daily thinking job, must create something by their own. That creation might be writing pieces, lessons, application of ideas to daily life or even their own businesses.
Planners must create. All the thinking will get rotten if they cannot be expressed, be executed.
